Our Story
Vicky and Jim Connell adopted Luna from the Safe Animal Shelter on December 26, 2018. Luna was 1 year old that day, underweight, and had not had a very good life up till that point. She was a little skittish but extremely friendly. Vicky and Jim lavished her with love, good food, and lots of exercise and attention. Luna put on weight, became a calmer dog, and soon realized what a great a life she now had! Jim and Vicky were totally in love with her!
On May 8th, 2022, Vicky will begin a cross country trip on her bicycle, traveling from the Pacific Ocean in Washington State to the Atlantic Ocean in Florida. Jim and Luna will meet her each evening of her trip in an RV, so that Vicky can have some company and a safe place to sleep. Vicky and Jim have been planning this trip for about a year, and have had a lot of fun putting it all together.
To follow their adventures, you can learn all about the trip on their YouTube channel: Vicky, Jim and the Lunatic. They have produced several videos describing their preparations for the trip, and Vicky plans to post a short video every day while she is biking to show where she currently is and how she’s doing.
In celebration of Luna and how much she means to them, the Connells have decided to dedicate this trip to the Safe Animal Shelter and raise as much money as they can to help them continue their great work rescuing animals. A donation of any amount would greatly be appreciated!
